More cake recipes old fashion recipe box my grandmother. These recipes are for Prune Cake that starts with a yellow cake mix and lemon filling applications. Strawberry Shortcut Cake is a recipe from my childhood. This is a large sheet cake.

Old Fashioned Prune Cake

1 box yellow cake mix
3 eggs
1 / 2 cup cooking oil
Water 1 / 2 cup
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Nutmeg 1 / 4 teaspoon
1 Cup cut, boneless, uncooked prunes
1 cup chopped walnuts
Their favorite lemon filling
Whipped cream

Cover prunes with boiling water and let stand for 2 hours.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Jellyroll Grease and flour a bread aside.

In a medium bowl, combine cake mix, cinnamon and nutmeg. Add eggs, oil and water, mix well. Drain the plums and add to the mix. Pour into the prepared pan and sprinkle nuts on the mass. Bake about 35 minutes, or until a wooden toothpick inserted in center comes out clean, 350 degrees. Cool cake completely then cut in half crosswise. Place a piece on a serving platter. Cover the top with your favorite lemon filling. Pipe whipped cream around the top edge of cake with a smaller circle whipped cream in the center. Garnish with pecan halves if desired. Also pipe whipped cream around the bottom edge of the cake, if desired.

STRAWBERRY CAKE SHORTCUT

This recipe is from a lady who had a country store with her husband when I was a child.

1 cup miniature marshmallows
2 cups frozen strawberries
3 oz package strawberry gelatin
2 1 / 4 cups all-purpose flour
1 1 / 2 cups sugar
1 / 2 cup butter
3 teaspoons baking powder
Salt 1 / 2 teaspoon
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 eggs

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Grease a 9 x 13-inch baking pan. Sprinkle marshmallows over bottom of baking dish. Combine strawberries and gelatin dry aside. Combine flour and remaining ingredients, beating at low speed of electric mixer until moistened. Pour over marshmallows in pan. Pour strawberry mixture over the dough. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 to 50 minutes. Serve topped with whipped cream.
