Need help?! question of giving birth?
Im 17 and pregnant (not scared), but what I fear is giving birth and my family we wish to see. I woulnt be comfortable with my family watching and I'm living with my grandmother and she is a nurse who provides assistance to infants in hospital. Im due in April that the disease is 18 at the time, but do you have the right to deliver my baby just because I'm his granddaughter? I love my family, but I do not want anyone even to look at exception my girlfriend because I think it is a personnal experience for us to share together and nobody else. I do not want them coming across as mean when I say I do not want in the room and how do you say my grandmother and have no right to participate with all that has to deliever hopsital at work just because I'm his granddaughter? Please reply I havnt found anything related to this so that's why I'm asked. Thanks!
In the 12 years I have been a labor and delivery RN, I have observed that mothers who feel uncomfortable with a specific person in the room during delivery subconsciously slow for his own work, as they are reluctant to have anyone interfering in their personal moments. Ask her grandmother if she has taken note of that ........ the room is full of people who think it is their right to witness a birth mother and positions held in 8 cm. Once explaining that she really needs to rest a bit and send them to the waiting room, which is becoming very active and suddenly full ...... visitors interest until after the delivery. There are several studies on this and almost always true. Tell your family / friends that this is a birthright, not a spectator event and was happy to see while you are in early labor and one hour after the baby is born, but not in the most private of times and not when you and the baby must be known. Her recently born have enough stimulation in a hospital delivery, without the whole world "ohhhing and ahhhing" in his / her first hour of life.
