Suggestions for a gift basket? My grandfather is undergoing kemo and I want to make a gift reflective practitioner
My grandfather is on kemo for prostate cancer. There is nausea and still has his appetite, but is diabetic, for sending candy is out. He is so weak and tired, Live in New York and he in Idaho, I can be there to care for him, but you want to show that even so careful-Do you have any reflective practical gifts? I just read the best book: Kitchen Wisdom: Stories That Heal by Rachel Naomi Remen. This is a national best seller and it is easy to see why. This author is a doctor, a counselor (for cancer patients), and the patient's own (ha suffered from a chronic illness since her teens). This book is a collection of short 1 - to 2-page stories that are so inspiring. I could not stop reading it ( "I'll read ...") just one more ... well, no, one more than I recommend for any cancer patient. Many of the stories are related with cancer. The good news is that you can buy this book from Amazon in like new condition $ 6 - $ 8 (including shipping). If your grandfather likes to read even a little, this would be ideal to send: cheap, easy to ship, and very uplifting / inspiring. As for your grandmother ... I saw my sweet mother-in-law selflessly caring for her husband of cancer affected by more than 3 years. I remember wanting to do something to help too, so I gave him a certificate for a spa day - to help relax and rejuvenate. We used to get a pedicure. She told me it was heavenly - just what I needed.
