I think in every family, at least one older member who has absolutely no knowledge of "potential" of computers. Some, like my sister, have no desire to learn either. However, the opportunities as more and more to share pictures, letters and even investigate the tree is known, many people who previously had no opportunity to use the computer are taking the plunge!
Linda Hayes, writing in the first grandmother Computer, apparently the situation in his family, to his son Lorenzo and Grandma Sylvia Linda inspired book. I am all for that young children learn to use computers, "that is" their " future, after all! But I am happy whenever anyone who previously have not had the opportunity to decide to find out what the Internet is that everything the world always seems to be talking.
Using excellent illustrations, by Acesgraphics, Linda shares a simple story about the time the grandmother decided to buy a computer, just to get home and have no idea what to do next. I had to laugh at this point because although I have worked both with the computer Central and personal computers for years, were not members of the technical staff who really created and cared for by the hardware (all equipment including equipment and machinery peripherals such as printers, scanners, etc.) So when I decided to have a computer at home, I admit some trepidation, even though he had already been using personal computers and enjoy its benefits for work and research. Believe me, the grandmother knew what she was doing to leave the computer on table ... until ... Timmy came to visit!
Timmy seems to be about 8, but obviously has been already fully capable of establishing and getting things ready for the grandmother. The book effectively demonstrates and explains what components of the computer you are working. Only when you start to use some routine computer terms such as mouse and cursor, he realized that ... wow ... Grandma knows nothing!
I felt Grandma and Timmy was going to spend some time together! Timmy and not feel very good about helping her grandmother to learn about computers!
Not having the knowledge and experience can exist, no matter how old. Many of us were in jobs and had the opportunity to learn, but many others were busy doing other work! I congratulate you if you are one of the past and are beginning to learn about computers. I work almost daily via email with a gentleman in his 70s who is learning to promote their books online, not having learned a lot from other than using a word processor. You could be that person and need help ...
First, the grandmother of the PC is very, very basic and is aimed at children, but beautifully shows the potential of two generations the chance to reverse roles and the older person to learn from the young. Therefore, if you've decided to take the plunge, check first team Grandma Linda Hayes and share it with your nephew or grandchild and see if they take the track! You can only much needed help and that every young start on the road to a future career!
