When I was young I used to be a joke (in a good way) in many families, that one could ensure that the grandmothers would think that socks and scarves were the ideal Christmas gift for your children and grandchildren.
Disappointing for young people if their grandparents were practical gifts more than imaginative, but it was so easy for the older generation to keep in touch with what the younger generation, as now, nor had as much disposable income - not in my family anyway.
Now that I am a grandma having fun searching for the perfect Christmas and birthday gifts for my children and grandchildren that does not mean scarves and socks! My only problem is not trying to duplicate what their other grandparents buy and what has happened! To avoid duplication I have to consult with his mom and she has to consult with his mother - sometimes quite complicated.
Last year I bought my grandson Jake 6 years of a space station with a lot figures and accessories. Still loves and plays with it more than anything else, so something to do with outer space as Doctor Who's Who Tardis and a Doll Doctor. Jake loves Doctor Who and it feels strange because I remember seeing the very first episode with my brothers. I still enjoy seeing them and I wonder if Jake would love Dalek suit their uncles.
My grandson also loves playing with toy cars - even asked me if I was too old to be down on the floor and play them with him! It has a garage and a good collection includes a remote control car, so I do not think it needs more. It's getting a laptop his parents, has a strong toys and almost all the toys I could think of.
In the end went back to the topic of space. At the top of the list is Jake Imaginext Space Shuttle and the Tower, supposedly a "brilliant gift for future astronauts. At least this toy will encourage you to use your imagination, while he enjoys. Also on his list was games for Play Station Portable, poor mite had been given a PSP with games that were too old for him so I was really frustrated. It is always best the recommended age to check before you buy video games. A camera Kiddizoom also on his list, God seems to touch us dodge Jake camera for Christmas.
4 years, Jake sister Jessica knows exactly what he wants. In his list is a baby born doll Sunshine and Learn to walk Chou Chou Doll. I do not think that is good because they want a double stroller to drive around in, unless it is proposed for the new doll to share with her kitten, who seems to have taken the car just got last Christmas.
Jess wants to join his brother as a player with a Nintendo DS and This should come as no surprise to me, a game Peppa Pig. This girl is crazy for Peppa Pig, which already owns Peppa Pig figures, books, linens, puzzles, and a ferry space and wants a Palace Peppa Pig. I tried to interest her in an equal right house to his cousin Beth has, but as pointed out by Jess - Peppa Pig is playing with now, a dollhouse adequate is to look forward to when I'm older.
Now I chose her Christmas presents all I have to do is wrap them in colored paper and wait to the big day. I wonder if I should try them before wrapping up!
