How can I convince my parents to let me stay out of town for a marathon?

This is the situation, I'm 16 and ending my sophomore year in high school. I've been in 3 sports, both from my years in school, Cross Country, Nordic skiing, and track. Most of my colleagues Cross Country team graduating this year are planning to run Grandma's Marathon on June 20 in Duluth, MN. They invite me to do the marathon with them, but I would to spend the night with them at a hotel the night before. These are the group most responsible for the children they could ask to go somewhere with a right, but now I've asked my step mom and she said no, I do not want to spend the night because I am too young. So, how can I convince my parents to let me go? Besides, I know it is not uncommon for 16 year olds running marathons and sometimes discouraged, but I ran the half marathon and has been a solid runnn for 2 years. Furthermore, the only way this would work marathon if I stayed overnight, as it is at 7:30 in the morning.

Show you is responsible for between now and the trip with simple actions such as helping around the house. Build your confidence. Try to get good grades and show then you deserve the opportunity to spend the night. Become the teen model, so it will be difficult for them once they refuse to put it back.
